Ohio and the surrounding region have a rich history of cryptid lore! One of the most famous is Mothman, a winged, red-eyed entity first spotted in the 1960s in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and even in parts of southern Ohio. Then, there’s Bessie, the Lake Erie Monster, an enormous serpent-like creature that has been sighted in the lake for over a century. And, of course, we can’t forget Bigfoot, the most legendary cryptid of all, with sightings all across the country—including right here in Ohio’s forests!
